How HelpInServices handles account, location, service request and communication information — and the choices available to you.
Privacy Policy for HelpInServices
Your privacy matters when you connect with a local service provider. This document explains the information involved and the choices available to you.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how HelpInServices (referred to as “HelpInServices”, “we”, “us” or “our”) may collect, use, disclose, retain and protect personal information through the HelpInServices mobile application, website and related support features (together, the “Platform”).
HelpInServices helps customers discover nearby service providers, submit work requests, review request progress and communicate about service needs. Service providers may use the Platform to present their services and respond to requests. The information needed depends on which features you use.
By using the Platform, you acknowledge this notice. Where applicable law requires consent, we request it through the relevant app permission, notice or other consent mechanism; simply reading this Policy does not replace a legally required consent.
2. Information we collect
The categories below describe information that may be processed when you use the corresponding features. Not all fields are collected from every user.
- Account and profile: name, email address, telephone number or country code if provided, account role, profile information and authentication-related identifiers.
- Provider information: service categories, offered work types, business or display name, profile image, service location, descriptions, availability and other details submitted for a provider profile.
- Location and address: selected city, area, saved or entered address, and device-based location coordinates if you choose to grant the relevant permission.
- Requests and communications: request numbers, category and work type, job title and description, request status, messages, timestamps, delivery/read states, cancellations, reports, reviews, and any details you choose to share.
- Support submissions: selected issue type, issue description, related request reference and information supplied when reporting a problem.
- Technical information: device and app identifiers, Firebase Cloud Messaging or equivalent push tokens if used, app version, system logs, network or diagnostic data reasonably needed to operate and secure the Platform.
- Payment-related information, where supported: payment status, transaction reference or limited confirmation information. Any payment processing and financial details depend on the actual payment method and provider.
We ask that you do not include passwords, one-time verification codes, full payment-card details or unrelated sensitive personal information in requests, chats, reviews or support messages.
3. How information is obtained
We obtain information directly from you when you register, create or edit a profile, select a location, submit a work request, send a message, post feedback or contact support.
Some information may be generated as the Platform operates, such as request status changes, message timestamps, delivery notifications or crash diagnostics. Location information can come from the place you enter or, with permission, from your device. We may receive limited technical information from service providers who operate app infrastructure.
4. How we use information
- To create accounts, distinguish customer and provider views, and enable the features you request.
- To show service categories and relevant providers for your chosen location.
- To deliver work requests, display their status, and enable customer-provider conversations.
- To send service updates, delivery/read indications, account notices and push notifications where enabled.
- To investigate service complaints, suspected abuse, safety concerns and technical problems.
- To protect accounts, prevent spam or fraud, maintain security and improve reliability.
- To maintain necessary business records and respond to lawful requests or obligations.
Where an additional, optional purpose requires separate disclosure or consent, we will provide it in the relevant context. We do not ask you to grant device-location or notification permission merely to read this page.
5. Consent, permissions and your choices
Some processing is necessary to operate the requested service; other processing is subject to consent, legal authorization or your device choices, depending on applicable law and the feature concerned.
- Location: you can manage location permissions in Android settings and may be able to choose a city or area manually.
- Notifications: you can allow or block push alerts in the operating system. Disabling them may prevent timely request or message alerts.
- Profile and requests: you can choose what you enter, subject to information needed for a functioning request or account.
- Consent withdrawal: where processing depends on consent, you may request withdrawal through available controls or the contact route below, subject to legal and operational limitations.
Withdrawing a permission may limit nearby search or alerts but does not necessarily erase data already lawfully processed or records we are required to retain.
7. Location data
Location helps identify relevant local service providers. You may enter a city or other area, and the app may request device location to calculate nearby results when that feature is used.
You can change or revoke device location permission through your operating-system settings. Service search may become less precise or some location-based features may not work without it. A work request may still contain an address or location that you entered manually, independent of GPS permission.
8. Messages, reviews and user content
Requests, chat messages, support descriptions and reviews may contain personal information. They are processed to deliver the conversation or request, display activity, manage reports and support legitimate operational needs.
Messages and work-request records should not be treated as an emergency communication channel or as guaranteed permanent storage. Please avoid sharing identification documents, bank credentials or other unnecessary sensitive data in free-text fields.
9. Storage, retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as reasonably required for account operation, requests, communication, legitimate safety and support needs, applicable legal obligations and dispute handling. Different categories of records may have different periods.
For example, account information may remain while an account is active; request history, messages and complaints may remain for an appropriate period after a job closes when needed for disputes, security, accounting or legal compliance. Backups may take additional time to cycle out. When information is no longer necessary, it should be deleted or de-identified in accordance with applicable requirements and technical processes.
You may request account or personal-data deletion using the contact method described below. Some information may need to be retained despite a request where applicable law permits or requires it.
10. Security
We aim to use reasonable organizational and technical safeguards appropriate to the information and risks involved, such as controlled access, server-side authorization, secure transport and operational monitoring where implemented. No internet-connected service or method of storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Keep your account credentials and verification codes confidential, secure your device, and report suspicious account activity through the available support channel.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on the laws that apply to you and the stage at which they become effective, you may have rights relating to access or summaries of personal data, correction or completion, erasure, withdrawal of consent, grievance handling and other rights provided by law.
You can request assistance with your personal information using the in-app Help & Support feature. We may need reasonable verification before acting on a request to protect the account and other users. Certain rights are subject to legal exceptions or data that must be retained.
12. Children and eligibility
HelpInServices is intended for adults capable of arranging and providing services. We do not design the Platform as a service directed at children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information without any permission or safeguards required by applicable law, please contact us so the situation can be assessed.
13. Other services and international processing
The Platform may depend on third-party infrastructure, device services or payment services that operate under their own terms and privacy notices. Where vendors process data in other countries, such processing must be assessed against applicable legal requirements and any applicable transfer restrictions.
We do not control the independent websites, services or privacy practices of third parties merely because they can be accessed through a link or device feature.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy when features, processes or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page identifies the version shown. When a change requires additional notice or consent under applicable law, the relevant process should be followed.
15. Contact and privacy grievances
For account-related privacy questions, corrections, data-deletion requests or other privacy concerns, open Help & Support in the HelpInServices app and describe the issue clearly. Please include a relevant request number only if necessary; never share your password or OTP.
